Brightdancing






The above images were drawn using a penlight torch in my back garden using shutter speeds of 12-20 seconds.  Long before TalkTalk promoted 'brightdancing' by sponsoring The X Factor, photographers had been using the idea of 'light drawing'.  I discovered this image of Picasso by Gjon Mili in John Ingledew's book 'Photography' (Lawrence King Publishing Ltd).  Mili took this in Picasso's dark studio by using a flash but then keeping the shutter open for several seconds whilst Picasso drew with a light pen.
